Jamiel Lotz

Originally from California, my family and I moved to Texas 4 years ago. We always joked that we were born in the wrong state, we never fit in well there. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two amazing kids. My youngest just graduated! I have my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Counseling. I started my journey in higher education when I was 30 years old and worked while I went to school and was raising my family.

 

Right before I graduated with my master’s degree I was diagnosed with cancer and it slowed my progress in schooling. I finally finished my practicum and graduated in 2019. Around the same time, we decided to move to Texas. I passed my National Counseling Exam and submitted all my paperwork to the state right as Covid hit and the state shut down. Once all the paperwork finally came through, I was able to start working in the schools as an Intervention Counselor. I worked in schools in California and continued here in Lewisville ISD.

 

I have worked with children and adolescents for over 5 years. I have a special place in my heart for at risk youth. I have worked with children, teens, adults, families and couples.
